I think I may have found a new painting program BUt I may need a different wacom tablet than what I have now. Didn't really get to take it as far as I wanted to BUT man Photoshop is a BEAST. I had been using it for other projects but not really painting... I just might play around more now... I've been so use to painter I was nervous to try anything in photoshop. I could have pushed some areas darker on this piece or done a few other things but I was just playing around to see IF I COULD do anything in PS... now I gotta try CS5 the new brushes are supposed to be impressive and a little more like painter, so far what I see makes me want to try it even more so now. ~D~

Now I have to admit Im Not a DC fan... I've always been a Marvel fan BUT!!!! THAT JUSTICE LEAGUE HEAT!!!! crisis on two earths .... MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that was dag on inspiring, it was a lot of fun to watch. I give it two thumbs up definitely!!! Wonder Woman was handing people their butts for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I always hate the way my Wonder Woman drawings come out. There are total of 3-4 I've ever done in my life time and I've only liked one of them... and that one I was like .. " it could be better... well this one is in that boat... Was thinking about another character I could do for another property I have in regards to one of the under water nemesis and while sketching came up with this guy... Now it was supposed to be a sketch and a lot more animated looking but got carried away, HEY I'll let the animators worry about that or just simplify later. The 2nd image below; I did a real quick color study just to show the color breaks, these are not final colors just want to see what the breaks would look like.

Here in this image I just wanted to show how the light and shadows are going to (or supposed to) work on this image... I wanted the viewer to see Kendel in the woods as if he is looking for his enemy, and the reader is looking through the trees at Kendel and have this feeling of ... KENDEL LOOK OUT, BEHIND YOU!!! ( am I spelling his name right?) The character behind him is Clan the TinGuh. I like the way this is heading so far. Im going to like it even better when it's colored... Now the scary question is ... should I ink it... this thing took forever... I actually can see where i have slowed down a bit from not drawing comics in a while. ~D~

I have decided... Im always sketching and drawing and something, most of it I can't show because of NDA's and all that good stuff... But I've decided that Im going to let you guys in on what I'm doing. sighhhhhh here it goes.. I have decided to do a comic based off a TV show Im working on along with a few other talented people. Just some daily sketches, I try to do this everyday so I'm playing catch up here by uploading the sketches I haven't uploaded to the blog yet. I have this big 11x17 sketch book that is hard to scan from. MAN I will never buy another one of these books again, man its a challenge to fill this thing up, BUT! Me and the Big BOOFY marker are about to become good friends, when I use a big marker I tend to draw bigger ... maybe this will help me fill this sketch book so I can get me a smaller one... I figure I'm wasting money if I don't at least use what I've got and at least fill it up.

The above image was inspired by the image below, the nose is a little red but hey that's the cool thing about being an artist you get to be creative, add things that are not there or change things to make them work to get the desired look you have in mind . I changed the eyes the nose the lips a bit as you can see and gave her darker features like in the eyebrows which honestly was one of those happy accidents.

This was a character I was kidding around with when I initially made a jest to there being a fist of Justice lad I didn't think Mike would take me seriously... Mike says hes a robot HEY I have an Idea I want to throw out there... what if FOJ Lad was the governments way of keeping an eye on FOJ so when this character comes out he's the governments way of policing the police. Just an idea... I did this before I had a chance to read Mikes full description of the kid all I saw was FOJ LAD and went to sketching then I went back to finish reading the message and uhhhh well lets just say Im way off what he had in mind. OH he would still be a robot that way they can see through his eyes he could later even become more sentient and make a decision to fight along side FOJ OR he could do the crazy Unstoppable robot thing and go haywire and become a villain then that way you could see his robotics in his villain form AGAIN just throwing it out there.

This digital painting was created in photoshop inspired by a photo I saw , the original photo of the tree was quite diminutive and lifeless looking. I wanted to express something that showed life and was much larger and displayed strength. The original image I saw was entitled Beautiful, I entitled this one Beauty Fulfilled. hehehe I know most you guys don't like all that touchy feely stuff, BUT HEY can't help it when my fine art side peeks out every now and then, hehehe its actually fun.

I gotta admit, after seeing the Iron man movie I was definitly influenced to attempt one of the hardest things to do in any media... METAL!!! hehehe... I had to do my own version of Mr. Invincible himself... I'll be honest I'm not sure if I like this one or not But hey I had fun and I guess that's all that matters. I look at it as it being my own personal practice session... as my instructor says I'll bring it up a notch on the next one, HEY

at least I'm not just painting heads any more:)

3. okay I know the top one looks a lot like this bottom one BUT they are different... I ran a watercolor filter over this version. And yeah I know it's subtle changes to number 2 and 3 but I get to be fickled and ... ( in the tune of its my party ) its my blog and I can have fun if I want to.

This is just a snippet of the image I'm working ( so yes there is more to this piece than just a head hahaha ). On the last two pieces I started I didn't finish them ( yet... Maybe I'll go back to them) . The goal on this one is to do a bust shot I'll explain further my idea of the sketch when I upload the painting. I was remembering my comic days and started drawing this image then I realized I only needed the skeleton for the painting and I guess I was also curious to see if I added more detail if this would help my painting any... I guess it might the more you have the less you have to think of oh well on to painting. Honestly I think I really wanted to draw but got bored to quickly.

Wonder Woman

I've been wanting to do Wonder Woman for some time now I probably could have pushed this the colors in this piece some more but sometimes less is more I guess. I remember on the old Wonder Woman TV show the wipes for the the show were the stars and this image I wanted to do an homage to the show and the comic thus the stars and the comic like layout, a little Linda Carter in the eyes a little shout out to the comic version ( in style ) and the show and hopefully I got the right mix, hey... I like the amalgam. I had to repaint the face about 10 times !!!! but once I finally got what I was looking for I was able to move on to the other stuff. I was also stressing about how to do her lasso then it hit me do it in Photoshop ... uh ... not telling you HOW I did it unless you really want to know hehehehe. ( 95 % of this image was done in Painter and the other 5 % in Photoshop).

Space Ghost

Okay here it is .... I've always wanted to do Space Ghost and he was one of my favorite Saturday morning line up heroes, so hey I threw it out there and gave it a shot .... AND YEAH I Know this is not the traditional Space Ghost but I saw another artist do his take on SG and liked it so much it inspired me to do this version. Im not as happy with it as I thought I would be, I'm still attempting to learn how to paint the human form BUT HEY I'M HAVING FUN WHILE I'M LEARNING I'll keep working at it. Ha ! They normally look pretty good small but these are probably better viewed enlarged. well on to the next one.

Someone ask to see a closer version of the head? Here it is ... I did a version where light was reflecting onto the black but I think I like the stark black better for some reason, It reminds me more of Space Ghost. but I thought I'd put both up.

Gatick Geed'Gak

Having worked on the Star Wars team At Hasbro I remembered seeing this Praying Mantis creature and when giving the challenge to create a Jedi Assassin I thought of this character and thought it might be cool to come up with my own version of an alien from that race... I didn't realize the original villain was female which made it even cooler when I found out the creature I was creating was also. the challenge was to create a star wars character it must be original, FEMALE, and a Jedi Assassin I got excited thinking I was going to get a chance to do a Jedi.... well ANYWAY... I thought praying mantis are mean little ( and Looking) creatures so I thought Gatick Geed'Gak... hired Assassin but make her really big ... She's run into Jedi before and lost a part of her right wing to a formidable advisory, the Jedi that did it??? not as lucky , it only persisted to really tick her off and she is one Yam'rii you don't want to tick off. Although I did not draw her weapons she wears energized gauntlets capable of reflecting a light saber, but her true ability exist in her blinding speed and size this is what makes her a worthy opponent , be sure you don't lose , because you may become dinner for Gadtick.

Kitik Keed'kak

was a female Yam'rii, also known as Huk from the planet Huk. She had a bad temper and could be made angry very easily. She was amazingly strong given her tiny frame and was known for her stealthiness. Keed'kak was also very good with technology. Her diet consisted of meat and eggs.

She was in Chalmun's Cantina, and followed Sai'torr Kal Fas outside, hoping she would lead her to her nest. Keed'kak was friends with Swilla Corey.

I got frustrated with the body painting I was working on and decided to pull a way and do something else to get me back in the right mode ...did a quick 5 min (below) and this 10 min piece. Actually it really kinda scary ... I WASN'T TRYING ON THIS ONE I was deliberately not trying to follow a structure and WAS GOING FOR SPEED they came out better than the body I was working on ... WAY better in fact, don't know what my block is. MAN I HATE THAT!!!!
